Almost everybody on the net have been held in anticipation these past few days (for some it had been for weeks) on the release of Apple's iPhone that everything in the World Wide Web seems to revolve around the subject. Fortunately, however, there are still quite a number of people who chose to continue with their daily lives.
New web2.0 sites still come out on a daily basis and peo
ple continue to read about them, use them and later on,even learn to like them. Among the numerous startups that came out these past weeks, the one that caught my attention is Operator11.com .
Operator11 is a relatively new service that allows users to use their webcam pretty much like their own 24-hour online live television network. This free service which allows users to create their very first video episode upon sign up.
It is a video sharing site as well so with Operator11 you can share you live videos with family members, relatives, and friends. Ok, so far it is no different from any video sharing website on the web today. What makes it different are the following facts. Operator11 allows users to post live videos making this video sharing service pretty much like your own television show.
The site uses a pretty easy interface with drag and drop features, and video recording. By also using flash controls to navigate within the site, Operator11 makes it easy to either upload a recording or NetCast Live, edit, remix, and interact with other users. ...more
Too hyped and psyched to get the iPhone this Friday? Well, here's a little reminder on some of Apple's products that were hyped just as much.
Honestly, I think the iPhone will still sell like pancakes. Compared to other Apple products in this video, the iPhone is substantially cheap. This means a lot of people will gladly spend their 500 bucks to be on top of the food chain or simply see what the fuss is all about.
I've been on friendster for a long time and not so long on myspace, and I've noticed that profiles on those networks range from kids to seniors to movie stars, cartoon characters, to cars, companies, brands, etc. Actually everything and any thing has a social network profile and that includes pets, especially dogs.
Dogs, being "man's best friend" sure are treated with some degree of respect. And now they have their own social network. MyDogSpace , it's a myspace for dogs. Of course its not the dogs that use them, it's the people who love dogs.
It's another niche in the social network space and by far it's not alone. For now it's just new. Is there anythig special or different? Not much. It has all the basic features of a social network, profiles, friends, blogs, forums, comments, you name it.
The community of people behind the MyDogSpace are dog lovers. They range from all ages and walks of life. Some are enthusiasts, some hobbyists, and some are simple nuts about their dog. This type of community makes MyDogSpace a great place to ask around about anything about dogs and, sadly, people will answer. ...more
I knew zachleat.com's alarmd was too easy to be alone on the web. But it's just nice coincidence that I find another online alarm clock not too long after writing about Alarmd.
Today, there's Onlineclock.net , founded in March2006, this application has at least a complete name and domain rather than the funky names missing a vowel. Like Alarmd, OnlineClock's dispplay is viewable in a couple of font sizes. Unlike Alarmd, color adjustments to the font cannot be made.
Onlineclock is simpler than Alarmd allowing a single alarm setting at a time. Furthermore, the alarm tone cannot be adjusted. Lastly, to prove its simpllicity, the snooze feature does not automatically send you back to clock mode.
All in all, I choose Alarmd, no offense. Though I have to credit Onlineclock.net for being so early. As an online alarm clock, OnlineClock to my knowledge came way before Alarmd. Finally, I would also like to compliment on Onlineclock's well placement of their ads. Real smart. ...more
Slovakia scores! The web chat service called Geesee is actually one of the newer free web chat service to come out and receive very good reviews. The developers sure knew what they were doing.
Still, the popularity of web chatting services come and goes. The loyalty of users is only as good as when the next better looking web chat service comes out. Brand loyalty is a pretty good reason why developers continue to think of ways of improving their chat services. And Geesee seems to be a little ahead of its competitors in terms of functionality, features and design, at least for now.
Geesee offers a few quirks like the availability of widget plug-ins for blogs and some revenue sharing opportunities for website owners. The web chat service also allows users to put Geesee chat on their site or blogs with minimal effort and uncomplicated procedures. By copying the codes, website and blog owners can quickly chat with their visitors. The site has different codes which makes it flexible allowing users to add it to a variety of platforms, such as Wordpress, TypePad, and PhpBB. There are also plugins for Firefox and Netvibes.
Other features are pretty conventional, like chatting without signing up or signing in, changing nicks when chatting as guest, and searching chat rooms by tag or by room name. The service also has full profile and photo support as well as ability to create your own chat rooms or join any rooms. Current statistics show 8,854 chats created with 31,050 registered chatters and 13,122 chat rooms. ...more
