Update: They're back up! And still no press release.

Amazon is probably the biggest shopping ground on the internet. In terms of stores, it would compare to Wal Mart and its Superstores.

Bad news for shoppers, Amazon is currently unavailable. The reason? Nobody knows yet. One would expect that for a service as big and as prominent as Amazon, they'd have at least a message saying even the stupidest thing like "monkeys have attacked our servers and we're currently hunting them down." However, there isn't the slightest. A visit to Amazon would just give your browser a "Service Unavailable" error message.

Apparently it's just the shopping portal that's offline, Amazon S3 cloud service is working fine.
