From CNN and the Associated Press , a Chinese blogger was beaten to death at a protest rally.

Chinese Blogger When Wei was recording a protest rally by local villagers against Municipal authorities when about 50 municipal inspectors zeroed in on him and started beating him.  The blogger died of the beating.

Outraged citizens have been voicing their concerns on the internet in local chat rooms, apparently their only outlet.  However the Chinese Government has arrested 24 of the municipal inspectors and is investigating a hundred others in relation to the incident.  Furthermore, the story was published in the state controlled news paper Xinhua.  According to the article, the Chinese Government does not condone the beating and especially the perpetrators.
