The Wall Street Journal reports that eBay CEO Meg Whitman is planning to retire. Whitman has been at the helm of the online auctioning company for the past decade and she previously stated that "no CEO should stay more than a decade in the same job because people need new challenges and organizations need fresh perspectives," according to the report.
John Donahoe is the leading candidate to succeed Whitman. He is currently the president of the company's auction unit.
There hasn't been an announcement regarding the turnover but Whitman's stint at eBay will be turning 10 years this coming March. So we expect to confirm the news shortly.
This retirement may do much good to eBay especially in its current slow growth since last year.
