Let's start off the week with a little bad news.
First off, we have Omnidrive which is according to sources headed for the deadpool. Read Write Web reports that the online storage service is having problems. Their blog , has been inactive for months and apparently their CTO has just left the company. Phil Morle, ex-CTO for Omnidrive says,
"...as far as I know there is no one working at Omnidrive today. No one is supporting the customers. No one is developing version 1.0. The Wollongong and Sydney offices have been vacated."
However, there was a word of assurance from the current CEO, Nik Cubrilovik, which basically said that Omnidrive is up and running and plans are being made to better the service.
"Omnidrive is profitable at the moment, and we actually knocked back a round of financing recently (we will likely raise a round in the new year)
Our new 1.0 release, which we have been working on for a while now, will be out by the end of the year.
So while some might view not responding to forum posts and/or posting on our blog as a sign of being dead, it is just because we are so overloaded at the moment and have a lot to work on."
Well, nobody's really sure what's going on at Omnidrive but a lot of user compaints have been pouring in about the service. With all the bigger competitors in the online storage market, it's hard to say if Omnidrive will make it through next year.
