Last week's antitrust lawsuit of Opera against Microsoft in the EU was covered here and we were all left anticipating a response from Microsoft.

According to Microsoft, in a nutshell, the bundling of IE with Windows is better and has always bee great for their consumers.  Moreover, IE is compatible with a lot of web standards and it's completely fair since it's their platform.

“We believe the inclusion of the (IE) browser into the operating system benefits consumers, and that consumers and PC manufacturers are already free to choose to use any browsers they wish. Internet Explorer has been an integral part of the Windows operating system for over a decade and supports a wide range of Web standards.”

Many except Opera think that it is justified that IE is bundled with Windows and there's no un fairness there.  However, as we all know, IE does have its quirks and  opt to use Firefox.  However, Opera's lawsuit isn't so much justified because Firefox was able to penetrate the market on a large scale even without Microsoft unbundling IE.

Anyway, whatever Opera's reasons are, it's funny that they are that desparate to take such measures.
